The stretching technology is a revolutionary and simple way for necking and shaping 3 PC cans, and brings valuable benefits to the can making process.

The usual process of necking consists of reducing the top diameter of the can, it means that the can is produced with its final diameter and the necking is formed in one of its ends. The stretching process works in the opposite way of the existing necking process - the can body is produced at a smaller diameter and is expanded to the final diameter desired, up to 10mm or bigger. Leaving the top of the can at the initial diameter and giving it the necking shape.

For example: beginning with a 63mm cylinder, we can stretch the can up to 73mm, which means 16% of expansion or a 10mm larger body - depending on the steel alloy used.

The stretching process has brought many advantages: reduced spoilage; increased efficiency; less maintenance needs; works the metal, thus producing more resistant cans; metal exposure is very low, since it causes no damage to the varnish or to the weld; as it stretches the body it also checks the quality of the welding in a 100% of all production; pin holes and inclusions are also revealed during the stretching process.
